The problem

You've created a unique character. Finding a figurine that fits is another story.

You've imagined their appearance, shaped their personality, and given them a place in a world of adventure. Then it's session night, and the figure standing on the board is a stock miniature that a dozen other tables already own.

How it works

Getting started is simple.

You do the part only you can do — knowing your character. I handle the rest, and nothing gets printed until you've seen it.

Step 1

Share your character

Place your order and send me your photo and character bio. The character sheet comes right after checkout — name, class, pose, gear, and the details that make them theirs.

Step 2

Approve your design

Review your preview, with one round of revisions included. I print after you approve.

Step 3

Make it your own

Receive your single-color, unpainted figurine to paint or display. Put a brush to it, or stand it on the table exactly as it arrives.

The craft

Your likeness, inside your character's story.

A figurine lives or dies at arm's length — the set of a jaw, the fall of a cloak, the grip on a weapon. Here's how your character gets there.

Designed from you

Your photo and your bio, together

Your figurine combines your likeness with your character's story. You tell me how far the resemblance should go — from a quiet nod to unmistakably you.

Printed in my own shop

Made to order in Idaho

Nothing comes off a shelf. Every figurine is printed here, by me, for you, after you've approved the design.

Approval before print

You see it before it exists

You'll review and approve your custom figurine design before I print, with one round of revisions included. No surprises arriving in the mail.

Single color, unpainted

The sculpt is the point

Your figurine arrives in one solid color with nothing hiding the detail. Display it as it is, or prime it and make it yours with a brush.

Your order

Order, then tell me who I'm printing.

Customers pay when they submit their order. The character sheet comes immediately after checkout, and you can come back and finish it later if you want to think it over.

Founding The first 30 figurines ordered come with a matching 45mm game piece (a $45 value), free. 30 of 30 left.

Before you start

You'll need four quick photos and about five minutes.

That's the whole ask. The better the photos, the closer the likeness — but normal phone pictures in decent light are plenty.

  • PhotosYour head from the front, both sides and the back. Even light, no hat or sunglasses — a window on a cloudy day is ideal. The character sheet shows an example of each.
  • NameWho are they? Name, class or archetype, ancestry, and the system you play.
  • GearWhat's in their hands? Weapons, armor, cloak, the holy symbol they never take off.
  • PoseHow do they stand? Mid-swing, guarded, arms folded, mid-spell. This is the decision that changes the figure most.
  • MarksThe details that make them theirs. Scars, tattoos, horns, a prosthetic hand, one grey streak.
  • LikenessHow much of you do you want in it? A dial from a subtle nod to unmistakably you.

Why I do this

You've created a unique character. Finding a figurine that fits is another story.

At Layerwright Studio, I know your character is more than a name on a character sheet. You've given them a personality, a history, and adventures worth remembering. I help you bring that character to life.

I turn your photo and character bio into a custom, 3D-printed figurine that combines your likeness with your character's story. Create one for yourself or give someone a personal gift inspired by the character they love.

Don't settle for a figurine that doesn't feel like your character. Feel more connected to the character you created — with a custom figurine to paint, display, and make your own.

Questions

The things people ask before they order.

Does it come painted?
No. Your figurine arrives in a single color, unpainted. That's deliberate — nothing covers the detail, so you can see the sculpt clearly and decide what to do with it. Display it as it is, or prime it and paint it yourself.
What if the preview doesn't look like my character?
Then I change it. You'll review and approve your design before I print, and one round of revisions is included — pose, gear, hair, armor, any of it. Nothing goes on the printer until you approve.
How are the designs made?
I use AI tools to help develop each custom design, working from the photo and character bio you send. Every design is reviewed and refined by me before it reaches you, and it's printed here in my own shop. I'd rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
What photos should I send?
Four quick shots of your head: the front, your left side, your right side and the back. A figurine is seen from every side, so I need to see you from every side too. Use even light and skip hats, sunglasses, heavy shadow and hard flash. Phone photos near a window beat a professional headshot. Only the front is required, but the other three make the likeness — and if it's a gift, candid photos from different sides work.
How long does it take?
Your figurine ships within 7–10 business days after you approve your design. Before that, the time depends mostly on you: how quickly your character sheet comes in, and how quickly you review your preview. Order by December 10 to have it before Christmas.
How does shipping work?
Shipping is added at checkout, and every order ships tracked. Party bundles ship free, all in one box.
How does a party order work?
Choose how many figurines (4 or more), and add each player's name, email and filament color. Check out once, and I email every player their own character-sheet link — they add their photo and character, and approve their own design preview. You get a page to follow along. Once every figurine is approved and printed, the whole party ships to you in one box. Start a party order.
What's the Founding Adventurer offer?
I'm new, and the first 30 figurines ordered come with a matching 45mm game piece (a $45 value), free — the same character, sized for the table. It's one offer per order, so it isn't combined with promo codes or party pricing: an order that uses a code, or a party order, doesn't get the game piece. Your order confirmation tells you if you made the list. 30 spots are left.
Can I order one as a gift?
Yes. You'll need a photo of the person it's for and whatever you know about their character — if you're missing details, tell me and I'll keep the design flexible. I can ship to you or straight to them. More on gifting.
Does it have to be a D&D character?
Not at all. Any tabletop system, any setting, or no setting — some people order themselves in ordinary clothes as a keepsake. If you can describe it, ask me.
